The Dark Angel

At Genting Resorts

We checked in… all in one room… Princess on one one-person bed, while her parents slept on the king-sized bed… I took the second one-person bed…Everything was great… we had a lot of fun there… on the night before we left we watched a magic show till late night…

The Next Morning

We, Dark Angel and Princess woke up late that day… Finding a note that wrote…

Dearest Princess,

When you read this I expect it to be quite late already… Your dad and I have gone to the Casino here… You go enjoy your day with Dark Angel… just make sure you’re safe and be back at the hotel lobby before 2pm… Because we have to check out…

“Mom says we can go have fun as long as we get back before 2…”

“Ok great… Lets go….”

At the theme park…

“So what ride you want to go on?”

“Those…(Pointing)…Mom wouldn’t let me ride it yesterday…”

“I don’t think you can get on Princess… Its 13 and above only…”

“You’re 14 right? So just tell the man I’m you’re girlfriend and he’ll let us pass..”

“Ummm… Ok”

Managed to get on the ride… after that the next ride…. All the excitement… She was very happy and I was glad… After the last one she wanted to ride on she asked me…

“Wow, that was fun wasn’t it? We have a while more… Lets go for a softer ride this time… you pick…”

“How bout the Ferris Wheel?”

“Yeah sure…”

Getting on to the ride was just the beginning… after a turn or two I could see the lights from the other end of the park switching off…and it seemed to travel over to our direction…. And then the lights all went out and we stopped… we were at the highest point… then yells and gasps could be heard from the bottom…and a man shouted…

“WE WISH TO GET YOU DOWN BUT THE EMERGENCY RELEASE LEVER IS STUCK AND BROKE OFF WHEN I TRIED TO PULL IT!!! YOU’LL ALL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE POWER COME BACK!!!”

(Princess’s phone rings…)

Her parents were asking where she was… I told them everything and also not to worry… they knew I would take care of her so they were much more relaxed… but still worried…

In the carriage in the dark high above ground…. Princess was very scared I could tell… I asked why… her explanation was that she is afraid when it is dark and she is in a high place…I calmed her down… With her head on my chest and my arms around her nothing else in the world seemed to matter… And at the moment I felt as though she was not just a twelve year old girl…

Then a scream from one of the carriages was heard…

“HELP!! MY WIFE IS ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH!!! GET US DOWN NOW!!”

The people down there seemed totally confused and frustrated…

“WE’VE CALLED THE AMBULANCE BUT THERE IS NO WAY UP THERE SHE’LL HAVE TO WAIT OR YOU’LL HAVE TO RECEIVE THE CHILD…”

“Princess, I have to help that couple… but I’ll have to leave you here alone for a moment… Can I?”

“Alright… but you must be careful…”

Princess and Dark Angel kissed… And that was their first kiss… Dark Angel climbed out of the carriage and started making his way slowly towards the other carriage… He almost slipped a few times but finally made it… he helped the woman give birth to her child and wrapped the child in the father’s shirt…

“Congrats, it’s a boy…”

“Thank you very much stranger…Thank you very very much”

Once again Dark Angel climbed out of the carriage and made his way back to his own carriage… During this happening Princess’ parents had arrived at the scene and was both shocked and amazed to see Dark Angel climbing out the carriage…Then a while later…

“HEY!! THE BOY WHO CLIMBED OUT JUST NOW!! WE JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS A WAY TO RELEASE THE WHEEL!!”

“WHAT IS THE WAY?!?!” I shouted back…

“YOU’LL HAVE TO CLIMB TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FERRIS WHEEL… THERE YOU’LL SEE TWO LEVERS!!! YOU RELEASE THAT AND THE WHEEL WILL BE ABLE TO TURN MANUALLY!!!”

“Princess… I have to go down again… this time I can save you… you won’t be stuck here any more…”

“Ok but be careful… I don’t want to lose you… I love you…”

“I love you too…”

Dark Angel kisses Princess and makes his way to the center of the wheel… he releases the two levers mentioned and he could feel the wheel moving once again… The problem now is that he cant climb back up to his carriage… He was asked to stay put and come down after everyone has been rescued and the wheel can then be stopped… Passenger by passenger was brought out of their carriages while Dark Angel was constantly moving with the turning of the wheel so that he would not fall…Princess who came down waited there for Dark Angel instead of running to her parents…After all was rescued Dark Angel proceeded to lock the wheel so that he could climb down… BUT…… a slight mistake of the foot and he fell… luckily not inwards but on the outside of the wheel so he won’t hit any of the wheel’s iron bars… but he would have nothing to break his fall………Then by a great miracle he managed to move close enough to the wheel to grab hold of one of the iron bars and stopped himself from falling… Once at the ground he was greeted with a great applause from the crowd and a warm hug from Princess… Both of them ran to Princess’ parents and hugged them…

After that experience, Dark Angel knew that life is fragile and must be appreciated and shared with their loved ones… So he knelt down on one knee and held Princess’ hand…

“Princess… I, Dark Angel wish to take you as my girlfriend to love and to care for…”

Princess, her parents and the crowd were all surprised… And after a long silence… Dark Angel continued…

“I know I’m not good at these words… But just a few moments ago I felt your love for me and I had a near death experience… I know that I have to cherish and appreciate all those who are dear to me… and right now, you are the most important person to me… Aunty and uncle I hope you will understand my love for your daughter and allow us to be together… So Princess… Will you be my girlfriend?”

A man in the crowd passed a bouquet of flowers to Dark Angel… and at the same time Princess’ parents gave her a slight nod… signaling that it was her decision… with the crowd shouting all around…

“SAY YES! SAY YES! SAY YES!”

“Yes, I will be your girlfriend…” Said the Princess…

And he hugged her… After the whole excitement the power came back and they took their belongings and checked out… On the journey home, Princess and Dark Angel were asleep the whole way in the back seat of the car… one in the other’s arms… Princess’s parents were talking about the issue of their daughter having a boyfriend…

“Honey, don’t you think she’s a bit too young to have a boyfriend?”

“Dear, don’t worry so much… It’ll be alright… Dark Angel is a very good guy… I’m sure he will know what to do and won’t let the relationship affect girl’s studies…and also I’m sure that he’ll take care of her well…”

“But…”

“Weren’t you the one worried about your daughter’s future… about what guy she will go out with… well now this is a solution isn’t it? You know him well and you know where he comes from… no need to worry about what he’ll teach our daughter lo…”

“Well… for now its ok… but once I see a drop in her grades I want the relationship off… you understand me?”

“Ok… let’s have a nice, quiet journey back shall we?”

The car dove on… till they reached home…
